Workspaces & how they work

Run multiple workspaces under one plan to separate clients or environments — with monitors and seats pooled across them.

A workspace is a self-contained space with its own monitors, status pages, and members. Multiple workspaces let one organization keep separate clients or environments cleanly isolated — a change in one workspace never affects another.

Manage them under Settings → Organization → Workspaces.

When to use multiple workspaces

  • Agencies & MSPs — one workspace per client, so each client’s monitors, alerts, and status pages stay separate.
  • Teams separating environments — e.g. Production and Staging side by side without mixing their monitors.
  • Business units — keep each team’s monitoring self-contained under a single bill.

What’s shared vs isolated

Every workspace runs under your one organization plan. That plan’s capacity is pooled, not duplicated per workspace:

  • Monitors are pooled across all workspaces. If your plan includes a monitor allowance, the total is shared — spread it however you like.
  • Seats are pooled. Members are counted as unique people across the whole organization, so one teammate in three workspaces still uses one seat.
  • The number of workspaces is itself governed by your plan.
  • Monitors, status pages, alert channels, and members are isolated — each workspace only sees its own.

Exact monitor, seat, and workspace allowances depend on your plan. See Pricing for current limits, or Settings → Organization → Billing for what your organization has today.

Create a workspace

  1. Go to Settings → Organization → Workspaces and choose Create workspace.
  2. Give it a name (and an optional description).
  3. Create it — you become the Workspace Owner.
  4. Invite members and set each person’s role for this workspace.

If creating a workspace would exceed your plan’s limit, Spectra prompts you to upgrade first.

Workspace settings

Each workspace has its own settings under Settings → Workspace → General:

  • Identity — workspace name, domain, and timezone (used for scheduled reports, alert digests, and on-call times).
  • Security policies — require 2FA for all members, and optionally allow people with your email domain to request to join.
  • Danger zonetransfer ownership or permanently delete the workspace and all its data.
