Edit Monitor
Update an API monitor's request, assertions, headers, or schedule — without losing its history.
Every setting on an API monitor can be changed after creation. History and incidents are preserved.
Open the monitor
From Monitors, click the monitor, then choose Edit (or Settings).
What you can change
- Name — rename without affecting history.
- Request — the URL, method, headers/auth, and request body.
- Assertions — add, remove, or adjust status-code, response-time, header, and JSON-body checks.
- Interval, regions, timeout — how often and from where it runs.
- Alerts — which channels it notifies and the alert timing.
Changes take effect from the next check.
Rotating credentials
If you rotate an API key or token, update it in the monitor’s headers in one place — the encrypted value is replaced and never exposed in alerts or logs.
Pause instead of edit
For maintenance, pause the monitor rather than deleting it. It stops checking and alerting but keeps its full history, and you can resume any time.
Next steps
- Set up alerts · Review results in the monitor detail view · Delete the monitor.
