What is SSL & Domain Monitoring?
Never be surprised by an expired certificate or domain — with early alerts and full certificate validation.
An SSL & domain monitor performs a live TLS handshake and WHOIS lookup to track certificate and domain expiry and validate the certificate itself.
Configuration
- Domain / host — the site or endpoint to check.
- Alert lead times — get warned well before expiry (for example at 60, 30, 14, and 7 days).
- Check interval — SSL checks run on their own schedule, separate from uptime checks.
What it validates
- Certificate expiry — days remaining before the cert expires.
- Domain expiry — registrar expiry via WHOIS.
- Chain of trust — the certificate chain is valid.
- Hostname match — the cert matches the domain.
- Detection of self-signed and revoked certificates.
Why it matters
An expired certificate turns every visit into a browser security warning — on a date you already know. Early alerts turn a preventable outage into a calendar reminder. See the SSL certificate monitoring page.
