Multi-region monitoring runs checks from several geographic locations. It does two things at once: it measures performance as different users experience it, and it distinguishes a real outage (“down everywhere”) from a local network issue (“down from one path”).
Confirming a failure from two or more regions before paging anyone is the single most effective way to cut false alarms and alert fatigue.
