Escalation policy

Rules that decide who gets alerted, in what order, if an incident isn't acknowledged.

An escalation policy defines what happens when an alert isn’t acknowledged: after a set time it escalates to the next responder, then a manager or a wider channel, until someone takes ownership.

It ensures no critical alert falls through the cracks because one person’s phone was on silent. Combined with on-call rotations, it routes the right alert to the right person at the right time.
